Termites active in Nerang
Termites and your Home…
Termites are a natural part of the environment that serve a useful purpose in keeping bushland areas clean by ridding them of dead trees, logs and tree stumps.
The problem is that termites do not discriminate between scrap timber and the timber in your home!
Properties and developments that are built next to bushland areas are at even greater risk of termite attack.
One of our new clients who had recently purchased a home in Nerang had such concerns.
After living at his new property for only a few months, he noticed a large termite nest located in a tree adjoining the bushland area directly behind his home. Alarm bells rang and he arranged for Amalgamated Pest Control to come and investigate.
A Full Timber Pest Inspection
Amalgamated Pest Control Gold Coast conducted a full Timber Pest Inspection at his property, which included a thorough inspection utilizing the latest technology and equipment to the following areas:
• All internal rooms of the home
• Roof void timbers
• External perimeter of home
• Yard areas
• Timber shed
• Boundary fence lines
The Result of the termite inspection?
Our technician located termites in two areas:
- A large termite nest located in a tree adjoining the bushland area behind the home (that the client originally noticed).
- Termites found attacking a pile of small tree branches next to the home that had been cleared from the yard.
The termite nest in the tree fork was identified by our technician as a genus of termite known as Nasutitermes. This is a less aggressive genus, but still destructive type of termite.
The termites located in the logs near our clients home were identified as Schedorhintermes sp., a highly aggressive type of termite that can do serious damage to a home.
The good news was there was no termite activity in the client’s residence at this point.
The Timber The Timber Pest Inspection was just in time!
Our customer’s property was treated with a liquid termiticide specially designed to eradicate the visible activity as well as transfer the effect of the treatment to other termites nesting below the ground and in nearby locations.
Our technician injected this product directly into the termite nest in the tree fork as well as in the root crown of the tree and in the termite workings around the logs near our client’s home.
Termite and Timber Pest Protection
Two weeks later our technician returned to find all activity had been eradicated successfully!
This would now reduce the risk of termite attack on the client’s home.
In order to provide complete protection in the future, a preventative timber pest management system was installed.
