Winter is fast approaching and so are the rodents! That’s why rodent control is a must.
Once the season changes and the temperature drops, rats and mice start to look for warm places to escape the cold weather.
Usually they find warm places to nest that are in close proximity to water and food sources.
A Commercial client of ours running a local restaurant in Surfers Paradise found this to be true.
Large holes started appearing in sacks of food produce along with black droppings being found on the floor of their storage room.
Staff had been complaining of scratching noises being heard in the roof.
As previous attempts by our client to set rodent traps had been unsuccessful, they made the call to Amalgamated Pest Control at our office in Burleigh to arrange for us to investigate.
How Amalgamated Pest Control solved the rodent problem
Our first step was a thorough site inspection of the premises. We found further evidence of rodent activity located in the roof void and around the external areas at the rear of the property.
In order to solve the problem in a safe and effective manner, our technician utilized tamper proof rodent baiting stations.
These rodent stations are specially designed to secure the rodent bait within a lockable station.
The rats can then access the bait within but are unable to remove the product.
These stations also help to prevent humans and animals accessing the bait.
Stations were fixed to areas adjoining the rear external wall of the building (near where the rats were believed to be entering the property) as well as in the roof cavity.
These areas were chosen to encourage the rats to feed away from sensitive areas of the property.
After 1 week our technician returned to check the rodent stations to find that the majority of bait had been consumed from all stations.
The staff told us that the rat droppings appearing on the ground of the storage room and the noises in the roof had stopped.
To ensure ongoing rodent control on the property our technician arranged to set up a rodent management program for the client so he could return multiple times throughout the year and maintain the rodent stations to keep control.
