“Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite” – so the saying goes. Many may think this is just a matter of speech but the reality is that Bed Bugs are creatures that do exist and yes… they do bite!
Bed begs are the hitch hikers of the Bug world. They usually don’t occur unless transferred or introduced by means of luggage, furniture or other items exposed to these bugs.
Bed Bugs in Surfers Paradise
Our Client in Surfers Paradise found this to be the case.
After returning home from an overseas holiday they started to notice bite marks on their arms and legs of a morning as well as black marks on their sheets and mattress.
Unknowingly their luggage had been exposed to a Bed Bug infestation in one of the hotels they stayed at and they didn’t realise. The Luggage had been left on top of a piece of furniture where the bed bugs were nesting. Once our client returned home the luggage was left on their bed unattended for some time after which the Bed Bugs spread.
How Amalgamated Pest Control can help with Bed Bug Control
Amalgamated Pest Control to the rescue!
After the client called to say they had bed bugs, they promptly moved into another room to sleep until the problem could be rectified and called our friendly staff at the Gold Coast office.
After completing a thorough site inspection the bed bugs were found to be nesting not only in the seams of the mattress but also in the hollows of the bed frames as well as the bed side tables!
To remedy this distressing situation our technician did the following:
- Physically removed the population on the mattress with a specialised bed bug vacuum cleaner. This method was used for the mattress so as to provide an extra safe, non-chemical solution to the areas our client would regularly come in contact with.
- Treat the hollows of the bed frame and any cracks and crevices with a specialised low odour product that would be applied as a fine mist that would eliminate the infestation to these areas and provide ongoing control by means of its residual effect.
- Arrange 2 follow up inspections to check the problem areas and provide additional treatment if necessary.
After the initial treatment and follow up inspections all evidence of current bed bug activity was now gone and the area was once again pest free!
Relieved that the bed bug problem was solved our client could now sleep easy once again.
